White coat and pinning ceremony honors first-year students as they begin their medical careers

On August 23, more than 200 new medical students took part in the Miller School’s first John G. Clarkson Freshman White Coat and Pinning Ceremony. The excited physicians-to-be walked across the stage at the Watsco Center on UM’s Coral Gables campus, first putting on their white coat with the help of President Julio Frenk or Dean Henri R. Ford, and then receiving the Miller School pin. Each student was also given a brand-new stethoscope, courtesy of the Medical Alumni Association’s donor-funded “Stethoscopes for Students” initiative.
