e are highlighting a few of our Miller School alumni who have contributed to medical innovation while still maintaining the art of compassion and personal patient care, sometimes for decades.

  • Paul Wetter, B.S. ’71, M.D. ’75, revolutionized surgery with his pioneering work in minimally invasive and robotic techniques, transforming patient care.
  • Barry Byer, M.D. ’69, devoted his life to humanitarian efforts, founding aid organizations that uplift communities and serve as beacons of social responsibility.
  • Pepi Granat, B.S. ’58, M.D. ’62, exemplifies holistic and compassionate medical practice, dedicating more than six decades to patient advocacy and care.
  • George L. Sanders, M.D. ’69, overcame racial adversity and rose from humble beginnings as the son of sharecroppers to become a cardiologist, inspiring the next generation of physicians with his unwavering dedication to health care.
  • Charles Dunn, M.D. ’62, a steadfast advocate for patient care and community service for nearly 60 years, left an indelible mark on countless lives with his dedication to dignity and respect in the patient-physician relationship.
