Connecting over hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and dancing, festivities went late into the night and celebrated all of the classes, including notable milestone reunions — classes of 1996 and 1997, celebrating their 25th reunion; 1971 and 1972, celebrating their 50th reunion; 1966 and 1967, celebrating their 55th reunion; 1961 and 1962, celebrating their 60th reunion; and 1956 and 1957, celebrating their 65th reunion.
F
or the first time in two years, alumni and faculty alike celebrated in person at the University of Miami and reunited over the Miller School’s 2022 Medical Alumni Weekend, hosted March 4–5.
“I am thrilled that we have such a good turnout,” said Alex J. Mechaber, M.D. ’94, president of the Medical Alumni Association, professor emeritus and former senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education. “The fact that so many of you are here is testament to the connection so many of us have to our alma mater.”
Alumni were welcomed back to medical campus with a cocktail reception on Friday night, where current students, members of the Miller Parents Council, and Dean Henri R. Ford, M.D., M.H.A. congratulated alumni for their instrumental role in shaping the school’s level of national prestige and success today.
“The medical advances you are helping to develop, the patients whose lives you are transforming and the breakthrough research you are leading — it collectively demonstrates why we are one of the most dynamic medical schools and on pace to rise to the pantheon of the nation’s best,” Dean Ford said.
Festivities continued on Saturday evening as more than 150 alumni and guests reconvened for a rooftop cocktail reception at the THesis Hotel Miami with music, dancing and continued reconnecting.
