One of the highly anticipated events during the annual Medical Alumni Weekend is the campus tour, when alumni have a chance to see how much the medical campus changed since they walked the grounds as medical students. One of the stops on the tour is in the Rosenstiel Medical Science Building (RMSB), where visiting alumni previously spent hours locating their class photos with their former classmates.
Now, these class portraits, along with additional alumni-related memorabilia, have moved to a new, interactive digital site called Alumni Studio. The site, which can be accessed from anywhere at any time, was unveiled during the most recent Medical Alumni Weekend, March 13–15, and will also be permanently available via a digital kiosk located in the RMSB.
“We cannot achieve the goal of being a preeminent medical school without a strong and engaged alumni base.”
Henri R. Ford, M.D., M.H.A.
Alumni Studio was born from a desire to preserve the alumni legacy through a digital medium and keep historical data on a single platform. It will feature a timeline of major events at the Miller School of Medicine, commencement programs and class yearbooks, as well as a look back at former Miller School deans and profiles of current members of the Medical Alumni Association.
“We cannot achieve the goal of being a preeminent medical school without a strong and engaged alumni base,” said Henri R. Ford, M.D., M.H.A., dean and chief academic officer of the Miller School. “We celebrate this relationship with the new Alumni Studio that honors the great alumni who helped the Miller School reach its current status as one of the top medical schools in the country.”
Christian Diez, M.D. ’04, president of the Miller School Medical Alumni Association and a quadruple ’Cane, shared the vision of Alumni Studio.
“It’s difficult to quantify the value that an engaged alumni base has for an institution,” Dr. Diez said. “We hope that this Alumni Studio will not only excite our alumni but encourage them to explore their connection to the Miller School.”
